My Story and Background
My Story:
My name is Jayson Peyerl, and I am the sole owner and operator of North Star Piano Care. I grew up in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, with a piano in the home and began taking lessons around age eight. Ironically, I didn’t truly enjoy the instrument until I stopped taking lessons at 14 and began playing music I was interested in.
After high school, I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, where I studied Environmental and Outdoor Education and pursued my passion for the outdoors. During that time, I learned a lot about myself and the kind of life I wanted to build. I knew I wanted to work with my hands, stay active, and eventually build something of my own.
The summer before my senior year, I enrolled in a piano tuning and maintenance course through the Piano Technicians Academy to begin developing those skills. I completed the course during my senior year while finishing my degree at UMD.
After graduating, I spent the summer and fall of 2025 working as an orchardist intern at Carpenter Nature Center, while continuing to practice and refine my piano tuning skills on instruments belonging to family and friends.
After my internship ended, I turned my full attention toward building my own business. In February 2026, North Star Piano Care was officially registered and opened for service!
